BRAG Research Masters student Amy Cook attended the IEEE International Symposium on Big Data Visual Analytics and presented a poster
Her topic covered machine learning applied to consulting business data to predict project profitability. The conference had an impressive array of keynote speeches and talks on data visualisation. Expertise and subjects ranged from 3D protein mapping to algorithms that visualise maps in a format that mimics traditional hand-drawn maps, to detecting high frequency similar customer complaints in real time.
Amy also delivered a four-session module covering decision trees, random forests, and boosted trees to QUT maths students and researchers.
