Congratulations to Nick Tierney, the Winner of the QUT ST★RS – Sessional Teaching and Reflection Showcase – GRAND FINAL EVENT:
★Nicholas Tierney: THE JOY OF STATS | Multiplying learning through combining video, worksheets and narrative. School of Mathematic Sciences
It is my great pleasure to inform you of the outstanding performance by two members of our School in the recent “STARS” Sessional Teaching and Reflection Showcase (an event sponsored by the DVC Learning &Teaching).
On July 20, two of our sessional staff were finalists in the SEF STARS event. Ruth Hubbard spoke on Students choosing their own pathways to learning (Maths B Bridging course), while Nick Tierney spoke on Multiplying learning through combining video, worksheets and narrative (in SEB113).
Nick placed second at the SEF event, making it through to the QUT STARS finale held on August 7 that featured sessional teachers from across the University.
I am very pleased to inform everyone that Nick was the overall winner of the STARS competition, with his 4 minute presentation judged to be the “most inspiring practice”.
Please join me in passing on our heartiest congratulations to Nick and those he works with in SEB113 on their outstanding achievement.
Professor Ian Turner
Head of School, Mathematical Sciences
